FAQ

WHICH SERVICE PACK DO I NEED?

This can depend on a number of factors, such as when it was last serviced and how much it has been ridden since then. If you’re unsure, just select a Basic or Custom Service. Before starting the service, your Mechanic will check your bike over, discuss any concerns and recommend any additional work which may be required. It’s no problem at all to upgrade or downgrade service packs on the day

DO YOU SERVICE E-BIKES?

Sure do!  Bosch and Shimano STEPS drive systems are especially welcome

DO YOU SERVICE SCOOTERS, E-SCOOTERS, STROLLERS, GOLF TRUNDLERS, ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES, EXERCYCLES OR GYM EQUIPMENT?

Not at this time sorry.  Contact the local importer or retailer for service options in your area

DO YOU SELL BIKES?

No, only fix them

WHAT ABOUT ACCESSORIES?

Yes. Flying Fix can supply lights, locks, lights, pumps, spare tubes and pretty much anything else you need to go along with your ride

HOW LONG HAS FLYING FIX BEEN AROUND?

WHAT DO THE VARIOUS SERVICE PACKS OFFER EXACTLY?

A full breakdown of all Service Packs & pricing can be found here

CAN I GET MY BIKE FIXED, LIKE, RIGHT NOW?

Like any bike workshop there’s normally a waitlist for servicing.  This can vary from a day or three during quiet periods to longer than a week during high demand periods, in the leadup to big race events and during periods of long fine weather when everyone dusts off their bike.  See the ‘service status’ ribbon at the top of the page for any info on long delays, lockdown operating procedures etc.

DO YOU ACCEPT CARD PAYMENTS ON THE SPOT?

Sure do, Flying Fix accepts EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard, AmEx and major NZ bank’s mobile app contactless payment methods on the spot

DO YOU OFFER A DISCOUNT FOR FAMILIES AND KIDS BIKES?

Absolutely, generally can work out a discount package for 3+ bikes in one location.  Just mention you have multiple bikes at the time of booking for an estimate.

CAN I JUST GET MY WHEELS TRUED OR MY DROPPER POST BLED?

Sure can.  Book a Custom Service & give as many details as possible of what you need for a pricing estimate. Note that $119 min fee does apply to most jobs.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR PARTS?

If your bike needs any replacement parts, such as chains, pads, bearings etc these are additional to the service packages.  If it looks like you are going to require parts to finish the job or get your bike running safely, your Mechanic will contact you right away with a price & options before proceeding

DO YOU COME TO MY PART OF TOWN?

Flying Fix is based in central AKL and covers this area.  The full list of suburbs currently covered is shown on the booking form.  If your suburb isn’t currently served, please let us know.  If there’s enough demand in that area it may be served in future.

WHAT IF I LIVE JUST OUTSIDE OF THE COVERAGE AREA?

It’s worth a try!  Select the nearest suburb in the Booking Form and list your actual suburb in the comments box. Pls note a callout fee or mileage charge may apply outside of the standard central suburbs coverage area

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SERVICE MY BIKE?

Flying Fix offers a comprehensive range of Servicing Packages from as little as $119.  Everything from a quick tweak and tune before that big event, right through fully stripping down your bike to bare bones and carefully cleaning, servicing and refitting all components. Remember that suspension needs servicing too! If you want something other than what is shown in the packs, use the Custom Service option at booking for an obligation-free price estimate.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY BIKE SERVICED?

As a general rule, a major service at least annually and a basic service every change of season.  Of course, this depends heavily on the amount of riding you do.  A daily all-weather commuter will need their bike serviced far more regularly than someone who does the occasional weekend ride in sunny weather.  If you’re lining up for a race or big ride somewhere remote (eg: Old Ghost Road!) you should have your bike checked over beforehand so you can have confidence it will go the distance.
